“You win a few, you lose a few. Some get rained out. But you have to dress for them all.” - Satchel Paige

To summarize, 90% of winning … is showing up to play! On January 30, 1965, Leroy “Satchel” Paige was named one of the outstanding baseball players of all-time. This legend made his major league debut at 42-years old … and pitched his last professional game at 59 years old … and he “dressed for them all!”

On this day, February 9, 1971, pitcher Leroy “Satchel” Paige became the first Negro League veteran to be nominated for the Baseball Hall of Fame.  In addition to entertaining fans by his expansive pitching repertoire, Satch also served up some unforgettable quotes:
“Age is a case of mind over matter.  If you don’t mind, it don’t matter.”
“Work like you don’t need the money.  Love like you’ve never been hurt.  Dance like nobody’s watching.”
“Money and women.” They’re two of the strongest things in the world.  The things you do for a woman you wouldn’t do for anything else.  Same with money.”
